Now more than ever, people are recognising that a balanced 'work-life' style integrates the personal and the professional in a healthy way, and is not necessarily a strict 9-to-5 schedule.

As remote work increases, people are now needing more of a variety in how they spend their time, however, almost half of Australian men and women are still finding it difficult to separate work from home.

So, in what ways can you create a healthy balance between your work and home life? And how can you prioritise accordingly?

1. Set time-frames and schedules for different tasks at work and at home! This encourages you to stay productive and complete what you need to do in your own structured way.

2. Prioritise your health! This will help you become a better employee and person - Prioritising your health doesn’t have to consist of radical or extreme activities.

3. Practice mindfulness techniques, like meditation or breath awareness! This helps you become in-tune with your emotions and physical sensations. Paying attention to these feelings helps you learn how to notice when you might be suppressing a need in order to work.

4. Reconsider work that makes you yearn for balance. If your work feels completely unrelated to the activities that stir your interest, enthusiasm, energy, and sense of meaning, you may need to look at how you can change the work you do or the way you do it. While work doesn’t need to (and can’t) satisfy all of your needs for purpose, meaning, social connection, and challenge, we can expect work to provide moments of satisfaction, accomplishment, and connection.

5. Communicate with your manager. Talking to your leaders can help you prioritise where to spend your time.
