143 people have been secured on the guest list for this event. Major businesses such as Qantas, BHP and Telstra are among the list, as well as representatives from union movements and advocacy groups such as National Seniors and the Smart Energy Council. Academic corporations will also be a part of the mix, including Flinders University and the Ceduna Aboriginal Corporation.

Led by the Prime Minister and Treasurer, the Jobs and Skills Summit is set to focus on addressing skills shortages and keeping unemployment low, with aims to deliver secure, well-paid jobs. Women’s rights in the workplace are planned to be addressed, specifically in terms of equals rights and pay. Maximizing jobs and opportunities from renewable energy and the digital economy is also a part of the agenda within the two days.

The summit has been recognised as a good opportunity for discussion and change, in which immediate actions for medium and long-term reform will be recommended, however it is clear that the problems being addressed are incredibly complex and layered.
